My name is Walter McKenzie and I’m a career educator, technology innovator and leader in nonprofit association work.
My mission is to engage members to fully connect into their organizations and transform them for the future. Since the beginning of my career, I have worked to help professionals have meaningful impact in their important work.
Today’s professional organizations are morphing as you read this, redefining the value of membership. The benefits of this shift are many, as new ways to plug into member organizations help them to become more relevant, agile and resilient in meeting the needs of professionals throughout their careers. Through my three decades of work in public education and nonprofit association work, I have learned to meet these challenges, coming to understand the potential impact of engaging educators in their important work. From teacher, instructional leader and assistant superintendent in Arlington, Virginia public schools to strategic advisor, director and now senior director at ASCD, I encounter neverending opportunities to elevate the profession and while redefining relevance for today's professionals.
I love my work! There is nothing like making a difference alongside like-minded professionals who have their eye on the future!
